Without photos we can’t put you forward to anyone. The good news: for the first step you don’t need an expensive shoot — but you do need the right pictures. Here’s which ones.
When a client is looking for a model, they don’t ask us — they look at pictures. We send them a selection and they choose. If you’re wearing sunglasses, standing too far away, or your face isn’t clearly visible, they simply move on. That’s not our decision: they just can’t see what they need to see.
No make-up, plain, neutral. An honest record of how you look.

This is the threshold: without a sedcard we can’t put you forward at all.

Only then do we publish you on our website.
A good portrait is the one shot we genuinely need. Without it we can’t build a sedcard, and without a sedcard you don’t get into any proposal. It doesn’t have to be professional — but it has to show you: face to camera, eyes visible, sharp, well lit, no sunglasses, nothing covering your face.
A headshot and at least four more usable photos. And here’s what many people get wrong: those four may well be private. Pictures like the ones you’d put on Instagram. They don’t have to be professionally shot yet — they should show how you come across.
Those are something else, and they don’t replace the sedcard photos. Polaroids are deliberately plain — they show us and the client honestly how you really look, without styling and without tricks. We need them at the start and, later on, kept up to date.
No make-up or close to none, hair down and away from the face, plain close-fitting shirt and jeans, plain background, daylight. No filter, no editing.

See our models’ books →For paid work there is no way around a professional book — and one that grows over time, because every good job adds new material. This isn’t a hurdle we invented: it is the working tool of this profession, and as in any profession, you invest in yourself at the start.
A book costs money and guarantees no work. That’s why we don’t recommend it before we’ve seen your material.
There are more options than most people realise — from simple, clean polaroids with a studio photographer to a full book. We know photographers in different price ranges and are happy to tell you what suits your budget and your profile. Just ask your booker.
And yes, free test shoots exist — photographers building their own portfolio. But be prepared: they choose who they work with, and in our experience they rarely take someone with no usable material at all. Good first photos are the ticket in there too.
